Teddy Gainz and the Festival Of Horrors - Patch 1

Current scope

Team Gainz wants to create the level 2 we originally envisioned as our 'festival of horrors' that was struck from version 1 of the game in order to meet our deadline for the horror game jam 2. 

We plan on creating level 2 as we saw it and polishing up the rest of the game for a new version with updated and expanded content in March 2022. 

Writing

  • Writing team to make needed plot changes to include level 2 after the changes we 

Design

  • Carnival level with spider boss fight. 
  • Chasing bug - can be the same bug or could be the spider?
  • Mechanics for the level - rising balloon mechanic that helps the player get to higher platforms and access other parts of the level. 

Art

  • When teddy falls off a platform would love a falling animation 
  • Quick death animations - slow down the transition a little bit from where you die to when you respawn 
  • Create Balloon and Carnival assets from assets list 

Sounds

  • Most sounds for the level  2 update are already selected 
  • Create a more uniform sound design for the whole game 
  • Instrumentation of the overall sound compositions

Production 

  • Have scheduled regular bi weekly meetings for teams with an asynchronous element on discord 

Level 2 patch wish list 

  • Clean up what we have right now, smoother and more presentable 
    • Dialog boxes with character portraits 
    • Mini cut scenes between the levels, make them cleaner and longer 
    • Add thicc to more tutorial segments 
    • Dash and ghost bar indicators with more pizzazz 
    • IU in game maker is a nightmare but ricardo is killing it 
    • Smoother level transitions 
  • Fix bugs 
    • Boss level bugs 
    • Collision bugs / stuck on corners of platforms (major fix has been pushed) 
      • Needs more testing 
  • Unify sound design 
  • Full screen option 
  • Volume control for sound effects 
  • Design a custom font for the game and marketing materials 
  • Address the teddy doesn't wear pants and that thicc is wearing pants in dialog 
  • Design a logo 
  • Work on translation and localization (rika, japanese) 
  • Platform that would work well, mobile? Feels like a game to play on the subway. 
    • How do we accomplish this? 
    • Adding controller support
